Department of Geography

The basic philosophy of the department is to prepare well-trained and knowledgeable persons who will be able to teach geography in modern and up-to-date methods in the private and governmental schools.

To ensure this modernization, different types of new technologies (SPSS, ArcView, ArcGIS, ERDAS, etc.) as well as subjects and topics (Remote sensing, GIS, Environment, Land degradation and desertification, Planning, etc.) have been adopted.  This will enable the department's graduates to satisfy the increasing demand of the local markets in different fields such as planning and management of natural resources, environmental pollution and degradation, and development, especially in the most important economic sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and industry.
