BZU Student Ranks First in French Short Story Writing Contest
BZU Student Dima Shajadieh
ranked first in a short story competition, where
students from the University of Hebron,
An-Najah National University and Al-Aqsa
University in Gaza, as well as
BZU wrote creative pieces in French. The contest was
organized with the support of the Service de Coopération et d’Action Culturelle (SCAC) at the Consulate General of
France in Jerusalem, along with the
Permanent Mission of Palestine at the UNESCO.
Aseel Abu Rajab, a
student at the University of Hebron ranked
second, while Ameer Hasan from Al-Aqsa University ranked third. Students at BZU
who ranked in the competition include Juhayna Natshe, Khadija Hijazi, and
Azeezah Saleh respectively.
The ceremony, held on 23
November 2011, was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Mahdi Arar; Assistant Dean of the
Faculty of Arts, Dr. Othman
Sharkas; and Chairperson of the French Department at BZU, Dr.
Basma Omari.
It is important to note
that the Consulate General of
France in Jerusalem conducted three workshops
in the participating universities on creative
writing in French titled
"Space of Freedom," under the
supervision of writer Jan Dami.
